  • Historic Huguenot Street 81 Huguenot St New Paltz, NY, 12561 United States (map)

On Halloween night 2022, there will be three FREE events happening on Historic Huguenot Street!

Trick-or-Treat on Huguenot Street:

After a two year hiatus, the beloved community tradition of Trick-or-Treat on Huguenot Street returns to New Paltz, Monday, October 31st from 3:30 – 5:30 PM. Children and families are welcome to gather on Huguenot Street and seek goodies from the residents of the historic homes, both past and present.

This event is free and open to the public.

Let us know you’re coming! Please RSVP so that we don’t run out of treats!

A portion of Huguenot Street will be closed to vehicular traffic during this event, from the 1799 LeFevre House (54 Huguenot Street) to the Freer House (98 Huguenot Street). Please note that addresses located beyond the 10-acre National Historic Landmark District are private residences that may or may not be participating in the event. Please be respectful and considerate of their properties.

New Paltz Halloween Parade After Party:

For the first time ever, the New Paltz Halloween Parade will be adjusting its route to conclude on the grounds of Historic Huguenot Street. This beloved community tradition, which begins at the New Paltz Middle School Parking Lot (196 Main Street) at 6 PM on Halloween night, will make its way down Main Street, veering right onto North Front Street at The Elting Memorial Library. The jubilant jaunt will cross Route 32 with the support of the New Paltz Police Department and continue past the iconic Jean Hasbrouck House. Participants will be invited to collect candy bars and apples from the New Paltz Rotary Club across the street from the DuBois Fort Visitor Center. From 6:30 - 7:30 PM, folks may enjoy live music, fun Halloween themed photo opportunities, delish food from local food trucks, and more. Activities will conclude immediately at 7:30 PM.

Post-parade activities are hosted in partnership with Historic Huguenot Street, the New Paltz Rotary Club, the Town of New Paltz, and the Village of New Paltz.

2022 The Bakery’s Night of 100 Pumpkins:

Historic Huguenot Street will also play host to The Bakery’s Night of 100 Pumpkins. Pumpkins will be displayed up and down Huguenot Street for visitors to admire, while judges critique submissions in the following categories: Pretty, Petrifying, Peculiar, and Period Piece (pick a time period of history to inspire your pumpkin’s design)!

This contest is open to all ages. Pumpkins will not be provided. All pumpkin designs must be complete upon drop-off. No carving will be taking place at the events. All designs must be original work. (No stencils, please.)

All submissions must identify which one category they are entering their pumpkin into on their entry forms. (Contestants are encouraged to submit multiple entries!)

Entry forms can either be downloaded from the HHS website or picked up in-person at the DuBois Fort Visitor Center (81 Huguenot Street) or The Bakery (13a North Front Street).

Pumpkin submissions must be delivered to HHS on Sunday, October 30th between the hours of 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM. All pumpkins must include the contestant’s name and phone number written in permanent marker, visible and legible. All pumpkins must be dropped off with a completed entry form. We will not accept late submissions.

The winning pumpkins in each category will be proudly displayed on the second-story porch of the DuBois Fort Visitor Center during the Halloween Parade After Party. Prizes will be available for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners in each category.
