A Holiday on Huguenot Street- Updated

  • Historic Huguenot Street 81 Huguenot St New Paltz, NY, 12561 United States (map)

Historic Huguenot Street invites you to A Holiday on Huguenot Street on December 3rd, featuring historical holiday themed tours, a free community tree lighting, kids’ crafts, horse-drawn wagon rides, and more.

Ring in the season with a theatrical tour of Historic Huguenot Street highlighting holiday traditions in New Paltz during the late Victorian period. The tour features costumed interpreters portraying some of Huguenot Street’s past residents. Explore the meticulously decorated Deyo House with Gertrude Brodhead, who lived in the home from 1894-1915, and hear about her family’s lavish Christmas arrangements. Then, join Gertrude and her neighbors for a special concert in the reconstructed 1717 French Church, featuring traditional musical performances and storytelling from the period.

The experience will last approximately one hour. Tours are available at 9:30 AM, 10:30 AM, 11:30 AM, 1:30 PM, 2:30 PM, and 3:30 PM. Tickets include a complimentary cup of hot apple cider or hot chocolate to be served in the DuBois Fort Visitor Center at the conclusion of the tour.

Finally, gather outside of the Deyo House at 5 PM to light the New Paltz holiday tree with the HHS staff, Town and Village Board, Mrs. Claus, and your neighbors and friends.

***Please note: HHS is sad to announce that, due to the impending inclement weather, Mrs. Claus has decided to postpone her visit to New Paltz for our event "A Holiday on Huguenot Street."

We have also decided to cancel the horse-drawn wagon rides for the safety of the horses, their handlers, and our visitors.

Our holiday-themed house tours, our kids' crafts, and the tree lighting are still on!
