Freer - Low HouseFreer-Low House

The Freer-Low House takes its name from Hugo Freer, the original owner, and Johannes Low, the husband of Hugo's granddaughter Rebecca, who had inherited and enlarged the house. While at least four of the original stone houses had wooden additions, the Freer-Low House is the only house on Huguenot Street which still possesses its early frame addition. The interior was remodeled in the 1940s by Freer descendant Rev. John Follette, and reflects the prevailing style of the time which desired the "charm" of the colonial past combined with modern conveniences. The house was purchased by Historic Huguenot Street in 1955.
