Deyo House
Deyo House

While remnants of the original house built by Pierre Deyo around 1700 still survive, they are embedded in the 1894 Queen Anne/Colonial Revival reconstruction of the house which was executed during the ownership of Deyo descendents Abraham Deyo Broadhead and his wife Gertrude Deyo Broadhead. The reconstruction of the house occurred during a period characterized by its veneration of colonial ancestors and a nostalgia for the pre-industrial past. The house first passed out of Deyo family ownership in 1915, but was purchased by the Deyo Family Association in 1971 and donated in order to be opened to the public as a house museum.  It was beautifully restored in 2003 and features circa 1915 interiors.
