Summer on the Street
It's
a summer of fun for children and adults at Historic Huguenot
Street. We offer two week-long programs for children ages
9 to 13 and one weekend program for adults and teens ages
16 and up.
Time
Travelers Week for Kids
Be
a time traveler! Each day, participants will travel back
in time, exploring history through arts, crafts, food
and games. Participants will create art projects and put
together an exhibit of their work at the end of the week.
They will also play games, make food, and visit the Huguenot
Street houses.
Archaeology
Weekend for Adults and Teens
This
weekend is aimed at allowing adults and families to take
part in the exciting work of archaeology on Huguenot Street.
A pit will be opened under the supervision of a professional
archaeologist, and participants will discover, examine,
and interpret artifacts. There are separate morning and
afternoon sessions: 9:00am-12:00pm & 1:00pm-4:00pm.
Enrollment is by session; sessions can be combined. Families
with children 9+ can sign up for the Saturday afternoon
session.
Archaeology
Week for Kids
Be an archaeologist on Huguenot Street! Participants will
examine evidence from a variety of people who lived on
the street including the Native Americans, the Huguenots,
and the Dutch, and will excavate a pit along with a professional
archaeologist. Paticipants will also interpret the artifacts
they find and design an exhibit for Archaeology Day at
Historic Huguenot Street. Discoveries from Summer
2007 are currently on display in the Children's Room of
the Elting Memorial Library in New Paltz..
