Old New Paltz Day (Colonial Street Festival)
A celebration of simpler times in a unique community

Saturday, September 8th, 2007, 11am - 5pm - Held on the grounds of Historic Huguenot Street, downtown New Paltz, New York.

We will celebrate our inaugural Old New Paltz Day. Many of you knew this celebration previously as the Colonial Street Festival or Stone House Day. However, we have made many positive changes in our 2007 event, and the committee felt that the newly improved event deserved a new name.

A day filled with reenactors, period performers, crafts, music, farmer's market, exhibits, food, children's activities and farm animals. The historic stone houses will be open for tours.

New this year is the addition of a special guest, the Mohican Princess. Jessica Mohawk, the 2006-2007 Miss Moheconneew Princess and gthe musical group Niwiwan of the Mohican Nation will demonstrate traditional Mohican dances, songs, drumming, flute-playing, and storytelling. The Mohican Princess is chosen annually by the Mohican Nation to represent their culture and values at educational and public events. This addition came out of a relationship that developed between Historic Huguenot Street and the Stockbridge-Munsee Band of Mohican when a Native American burial was found during an archaeological dig on the site last year.
