Supporting HHS

Historic Huguenot Street is a not-for-profit organization.  While we are a National Historic Landmark District, we are not a national or state park or historic site and receive no federal or state allocation.  This can be confusing, but the fact is that funds for our educational and preservation programs come primarily from individuals in our community and "extended family" who care deeply about this place and the stories preserved here.

Unrestricted charitable gifts are used to support the education, preservation, restoration, and interpretation of our museum houses.  Donor-restricted gifts for a specific purpose are also welcome, provided the purpose fits within our overall strategic plan. There are several ways to give. These are explained below. If you have a specific idea or have questions, please feel free to contact Jan Melchior, Manager of Promotion and Marketing, via email or at 845-255-1660, x 108.

Friends of Huguenot Street

  • Friends receive discounts on Museum Shop purchases and selected programs, as well as free walk-in guided tours.  Friends support begins at $40 per year.  For more information about Friends of Huguenot Street, to join or to renew, click here.

Special and Annual Gifts

  • Provide support that help us care for our historic houses and the grounds and that allows us to educate children and the public about the unique and timeless story of Huguenot Street.
  • May be funded with cash, securities, or other assets
  • Provide an income tax deduction
  • May provide other tax savings (e.g., capital gains tax)
  • To make a gift, click here or call Jan Melchior, Manager of Promotion and Marketing, at 845-255-1660, extension 108.

Planned Gifts

  • Gifts included your will or life insurance policy
  • Assets pass to us after your lifetime, providing you the use of your assets throughout your life
  • Include bequests and other planned gifts
  • May allow charitable estate tax deduction

If you choose to include us in your will or estate plan, we should be named as: Historic Huguenot Street, aka The Huguenot Historical Society, New Paltz, NY, a nonprofit corporation with a principal business address of 18 Broadhead Avenue, New Paltz, NY 12561. Our federal tax identification number is 14-6030196.
